Nickel Electroforming

Electroforming is a technology that is closely related to electroplating, the difference being that much thicker electrodeposits are produced. These more substantial electrodeposits can then be removed from the original substrate to form a separate item.

The vast majority of electroforms are made from nickel due to its mechanical and corrosion resistant properties. Nickel electroforming has unique advantages that make it the only method used to manufacture familiar products such as:

• CDs, DVDs and BDs
• Security holograms
• Screen printing cylinders
• Grinding wheels
• Nickel foil
