Batteries for storing electrical power have become a thoroughly indispensable part of modern life and nickel-containing batteries have played a major part in this technology. Nickel/nickel-hydride devices have largely replaced nickel/cadmium because of the toxicity problems associated with cadmium. In addition, they are re-chargeable and have a capacity that’s 40% higher than nickel/cadmium. The basis of nickel-containing batteries is almost always the use of filamentary nickel powder to provide an electrically conductive skeleton that can be impregnated with the active mass of the electrode. Nickel oxide also provides the active mass and nickel foil is used for electrical connections. For more information on Nickel-Based Batteries, please contact us. |
