Novamet Specialty Products Corporation, based in Lebanon, Tennessee, is currently offering an extended range of Nickel-Coated Graphite particulate materials.
Since the 1980s these particles, incorporated into non-conductive polymers such as silicone, have been used as electrically conductive fillers to manufacture gaskets and sealants, which are used principally in electronic shielding applications.
Until now, Novamet have offered only two standard grades of the Nickel-Coated Graphite particulates with a 60% or 75% nickel surface layer.
Novamet’s newly developed proprietary coating process provides a greater degree of flexibility and control during manufacture. This means that, in addition to the standard products, a number of customised variations can now be produced for specific user or technological requirements.
Consistent surface coverage of the graphite substrate is obviously a critical factor in obtaining optimum performance. The new Novamet process is proving to excel in this area.
For companies compounding the particles into resin bases – and for their customers – this increased flexibility provides greater design freedom and the opportunity to fine-tune the electrical and mechanical properties of their products.
UK-based company, Hart Materials, has almost 30 years’ experience in supplying Nickel-Coated Graphite, not only for electrically-conductive end-products, but also for alternative uses such as friction applications.
The company’s experience and high-level of technical expertise continues to be vital in assisting customers to specify the exact grade of product to suit their individual needs.
