Very effective barrier coatings can be produced by incorporating stainless steel flake pigments into twin-pack epoxy resin systems.  This type of finish provides excellent resistance to corrosion when used on metallic substrates in aggresive environments.  These flakes are manufactured by Novamet from highly corrosion resistant AISI Type 316L (UNS-S 31603) powder.

Detailed formulations for typical coatings of this type have been published and are available in a leaflet from Hart Materials. Relevant corrosion test results are also included giving details of the performance of these coatings in a range of environments including:-

  • neutral salt spray
  • continuous humidity
  • organic solvents
  • inorganic salts
  • acids
  • alkalis
  • amines
  • foodstuffs

All of which will allow design engineers and product specifiers to identify the right combination for their needs.  Details of formulations, test results and other information related to these materials is available through Hart Materials.
