Hart Materials is pleased to report record export sales that have risen to over 42% in the past year. This comes as encouraging news to the Midlands-based raw material supplier of metals and chemicals, which has been exporting its products since the business was started in 1981.
Managing Director, Dr. Tony Hart, comments: “Because the products we sell are very specialised and generally used in high technology applications, identification of potential new customers requires a great deal of patience and persistence.”
“By and large, we have had to engineer this ourselves as we’ve generally found that attendance at exhibitions and advertising in trade magazines tends to be insufficiently targeted.”
Prime markets for Hart Materials have tended to be in nearby European countries, including Ireland France, Germany, the Netherlands Spain, Poland and the Czech Republic.
However, the company now receives enquiries from places further afield, such as India, china, Brazil South Korea and Turkey.
Tony believes that the boost in overseas trade is down to a well-designed website together with effective contact management, from the initial enquiry through to completion of the sale and beyond.
He concludes: “With Brexit fast-approaching, we have been looking for other export opportunities and will obviously need to develop new strategies to maintain these markets; something that is a high priority for any company set on success.”
