Cranfield University has recently appointed Hart Materials’ managing director, Dr Tony Hart, to be an external examiner for a PhD thesis based on nickel deposition.
The prestigious postgraduate university, which specialises in science, technology and management, approached Dr Hart due to his extensive knowledge of the subject.
Widely known as a world expert in nickel electroplating, Tony has collaborated with Cranfield for almost thirty years, delivering specialist lectures on the industrial application of surface engineering processes.
Tony comments: “I feel honoured to have been invited to be an external examiner for such a distinguished institution, particularly in relation to a Doctorate level qualification.”
“Coming from an industrial background will be highly beneficial in examining this piece of work, which is of a distinctly practical nature with potential commercial applications.”
Dr Hart will sit on the panel for the oral element of the process, or viva voce, later this year, following in-depth evaluation and scrutiny of the material presented.
