For some time, most of the major automotive companies have been signalling their intention to move to all-electric vehicle production.
However, the race to develop the electric vehicle (EV) battery is already having a major impact on demand for the materials involved.
These include:
- Nickel
- Cobalt
- Aluminium or Magnesium
- Lithium
- Copper
In December, the Brazilian-based mining giant, Vale, presented its insights into the implications for energy metal supplies at the Scotia Mining Conference in Toronto.
“We are at a precipice of an Electric Vehicle revolution,” the company states, “and Electric Vehicles will usher in an age of new energy metals.”
