Sil-Shield Ag-G Silver Coated Glass Particulates

Sil-Shield Ag-G silver-coated glass combines the high electrical and thermal conductivity of silver metal with the low bulk density of the soda-lime glass substrate. These products are used as fillers in non-conductive media to provide composites with a high level of electrical conductivity.

These properties enable conductive composites to be manufactured exhibiting a highly effective RFI/EMI shielding performance combined with low finished product weight at an economical cost.

One of the key features of the ‘Sil-Shield Ag-G’ products is the close control that is achieved of the particle size distribution. This optimises contact between individual particles which results in maximum electrical conductivity being achieved for any specific filler loading. The chemical inertness of the glass substrate
enables the products to be used in a wide variety of matrix materials.

Standard Range

The standard range of Sil-Shield Ag-G is based on regular spherical particles with a soda-lime glass core giving a finished coated product with a d50 of 40 µm. Products coated with 8% - 12% -16% silver are available.

Non-Standard Materials

Sil-Shield Ag-G spherical materials can also be supplied in non-standard sizes ranging from 0.4 µm at the smaller end up to 100 µm at the larger. Products with a silver-content from 4% to 33% can be provided.

In addition there is a range of Silver-Coated Glass Flake products available, again with a range of silver contents.
