NOVAMET Magnetic Products |
Nickel Products Nickel is naturally ferromagnetic and as a consequence all of the NOVAMET Nickel Flake products as well as the INCO and NOVAMET nickel powders exhibit useful magnetic properties. Nickel Flake Fine Leafing Grade can readily be incorporated into thin film coatings without loss of magnetic properties. Typical values of this pigment dispersed at a pigment to binder ration of 2:1 are: - Saturation Magnetisation: 47x 10-3 emu
- Remanent Magnetisation: 24x 10-3 emu
- Coercivity: 74 Oe

Stainless Steel Flake Products Since NOVAMET Stainless Steel Flakes are manufactured from austenitic grade UNS –S 31603 it would not normally be expected to be ferromagnetic. However, structural changes derived from the flaking process result in the flakes exhibiting useful magnetic properties of a similar order of magnitude as nickel flakes. | | Stainless Steel Flake Fine Leafing Grade
Permalloy Magnetic Flakes NOVAMET produce a special magnetic flake from a 2% Mo, 81% Ni, balance Fe powder with very high magnetic permeability. It is manufactured as a thin, 0.7 micron, flake which is very suitable for incorporation into thin ink or paint coatings. Nickel/Aluminium Alloy Flakes Nickel alloyed with around 3% aluminium exhibits a Curie temperature of 160oC which is much lower than that of pure nickel, 358oC. This enables it to be used very successfully in magnetic switching devices. NOVAMET produce Nickel-Aluminium particulates in a thin flake form which is very suitable for the manufacture of coatings.
