Paul is a Metallurgy Graduate of the University of Birmingham from where he also gained his Doctorate in 2000 for work dealing with the colour of chromium electrodeposits. He has held senior technical positions in a number of companies most recently as Technical Manager at Kohler Mira, the international shower and bathroom accessory manufacturer.

As a high profile member of the surface coating industry Paul has been the President of the Institute of Metal Finishing since December 2010. He is also a member of the Comitée Européen Traitments de Surface (CETS) working most recently to help steer the surface coating industry through the complexities of the European Union REACh Regulation.

Dr. Tony Hart, comments “I am delighted that, as a relatively small business, we have been able to secure the services of someone as experienced and capable as Paul. He has settled into his new role very quickly during the last 3 months; his technical ability and senior managerial experience have proved very relevant to our needs.

We have already been able to initiate a number of development projects which, if successful, will provide the company with new products. Paul’s presence will enable Hart Materials to become a problem solver – rather than just an off the shelf supplier – to industries requiring novel materials of the type in which we specialise.

You are obviously aware of the 'REACH Regulations' that came into force on June 1st 2007 and the fact that it applies to products that HART MATERIALS LIMITED currently supply manufactured either by Vale Inco or by NOVAMET Specialty Products Corporation, with is a wholly owned subsidiary of Vale Inco.

As a distributor of Vale Inco and NOVAMET products HART MATERIALS LIMITED will, for the purposes of REACH legislation, be regarded as a Downstream User.  Consequently we do not have to become directly involved in the Pre-Registration or Registration stages of REACH.  This will be done on our behalf by Vale Inco Europe.

As a distributor, however, we have an obligation to ensure an unimpeded flow of information related to REACH between the manufacturer/importer (i.e. Vale Inco Europe) and our customers.

On April 1st 2008 HART MATERIALS LIMITED became fully operational as the sucessor to HART COATING TECHNOLOGY providing the same range of products and services. Chairman and Managing Director Dr. Tony Hart provides details below.
