Chemical silvering is an essential part of many electroforming operations as well as providing a decorative finish in it’s own right.

This is a two stage process involving, firstly, sensitisation of the substrate surface followed by chemical deposition of metallic silver.

Hart Materials Limited supplies all of the chemical solutions required for this silvering process in the form of concentrates requiring dilution before use.

For the metalising stage of the process a twin nozzle spray gun is an essential requirement. Hart Materials Limited supplies guns of this type with the stainless steel working parts necessary with aqueous solutions of the type employed in chemical silvering as well as single nozzle guns suitable for the initial sensitising, process.

In addition to being suitable for electroforming operations the process is also ideally suited for decorative silver coating. The silver film produced is highly reflective with excellent general visual quality. It is compatible with most base-coat lacquers and ideal for use with clear or tinted lacquer top-coats.
